War Child U.K. CEO Helen Pattinson said in a\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.warchild.org.uk\/news\/war-child-shares-first-study-psychological-impact-war-vulnerable-children-gaza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>. &#8220;Alongside the leveling of hospitals, schools, and homes, a trail of\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/gaza-children\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">psychological destruction<\/a>\u00a0has caused wounds unseen but no less destructive on children who hold no responsibility for this war.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"rm-embed embed-media\">\n<p>Israel&#8217;s 434-day assault on Gaza\u2014which is the subject of an International Court of Justice\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/south-africa-icj-genocide-israel\">genocide case<\/a>\u2014has left tens of thousands of children\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/how-many-women-and-children-have-died-in-gaza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dead<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/gaza-child-amputees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maimed<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/gaza-children-missing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">missing<\/a>, or\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/orphans-in-gaza\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">orphaned<\/a>\u00a0and hundreds of thousands more\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/israel-ethnic-cleansing-northern-gaza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forcibly displaced<\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/starving-children-in-gaza\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">starved<\/a>, or\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/gaza-polio-2669015896\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">sickened<\/a>. Doctors and others including volunteers from the United States have documented many cases in which they&#8217;ve concluded Israeli snipers and other troops have\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/doctor-in-gaza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deliberately shot children<\/a>\u00a0in the head and chest.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The harm caused to Gaza&#8217;s children goes beyond statistics. Behind every number is a name, a life, and a future that is being extinguished before it can even begin,&#8221; Iain Overton, executive director of the U.K.-based group Action on Armed Violence,\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/aoav.org.uk\/2024\/death-feels-imminent-for-96-of-children-in-gaza-study-finds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>\u00a0in response to the new report.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The world&#8217;s failure to protect Gaza&#8217;s children is a moral failing on a monumental scale,&#8221; he added. &#8220;We must act decisively and compassionately to ensure that these children&#8217;s voices are heard and their futures protected.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In October, the U.K.-based charity Oxfam International\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/gaza-women-children\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>\u00a0that Israel&#8217;s yearlong assault on Gaza has been the deadliest year of conflict for women and children anywhere in the world over the past two decades. A year ago, the United Nations Children&#8217;s Fund\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unicef.org\/press-releases\/unicef-geneva-palais-briefing-note-gaza-worlds-most-dangerous-place-be-child\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">called<\/a>\u00a0Gaza &#8220;the world&#8217;s most dangerous place to be a child.&#8221; Earlier this year, U.N. Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres for the first time\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/news\/israel-killing-children-2668478068\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">added Israel<\/a>\u00a0to his so-called &#8220;List of Shame&#8221; of countries that kill and injure children during wars and other armed conflicts.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The international community must act now before the child mental health catastrophe we are witnessing embeds itself into multi-generational trauma, the consequences of which the region will be dealing with for decades to come,&#8221; Pattinson stressed. &#8220;A cease-fire must be the immediate first step to allow War Child and other agencies to effectively respond to the intense psychological damage children are experiencing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the complicity of allies like the United States, Germany, and Britain, who provide weapons and diplomatic cover for\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/www.commondreams.org\/tag\/israel\">Israel<\/a>, progressive U.K. parliamentarian Jeremy Corbyn\u00a0<a class=\"rm-stats-tracked\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jeremycorbyn\/status\/1867174889507172478\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>\u00a0on social media in response to the new report, &#8220;Every single supplier of
