这个种族主义者要竞选领袖？全体工党支持者说不！

为了大局，原新州工党领袖麦凯（Jodi McKay）主动请辞，为展开工党新的一页带来希望。不过，工党的右翼势力蠢蠢欲动，窥视新州工党领袖的宝座。

据报道，曾创下最短命任职（只在位四个月）前新州工党领袖的戴利（Michael Daley），周日宣布要卷土重来，竞选新州工党领袖职位。

这个戴利，曾在出丑中下台：

一是与现任州长贝积莲（Gladys Berejiklian）的电视辩论中不知道教育预算的规模，当场出丑；

二是讲出「有博士学位的亚洲人拿走了我们孩子的工作」的讲话，引发轩然大波。

这个明显是种族歧视的论调，也成为他当年下台的导火索。也令众多华人在大选时转投自由党，至今深陷种族歧视的社会氛围。这个人乃是工党的千古罪人！

时至今日，戴利似乎没有任何悔意。这次表态参选，面对工党众多华人议员以及党员，均只字不提他当年的歧视行为，更别说道歉了。

不难想像，假若这样的种族主义者当选新州工党领袖，肯定是新州华人社区的坏消息，这让新州华人处在右翼执政党和右翼篡夺反对党后的双重压力之下。

也因为如此，一众新州工党华人议员及工党骨干，今天发起联名声明，呼吁大家抵制戴利当选。

笔者十分认同华人议员及骨干的做法，澳洲言论自由，但绝不应有种族歧视的言论自由。戴利这种人，需要为他的言行付出政治代价，若知羞的话，应该退出工党，退出政坛。工党不欢迎种族歧视者，华人社区更加不欢迎种族歧视者。

笔者呼吁工党的华人成员，用选票对种族主义者说不！

附抵制声明（节选）：

We the undersigned represent a collection of members, councillors, elected officials and staffers connected to the Labor movement.

In 2018 at a members event, Michael Daley said “our young people will flee… they are being replaced by young people, from typically Asia, with PhDs.”

He also said “there’s a transformation happening in Sydney now where our kids are moving out and foreigners are moving in and taking their jobs”. Mr Daley was given an opportunity at this event to correct this statement and declined to do so.

At today’s press conference it is clear Mr Daley still does not fully understand the impact of those comments.

Those comments damaged Labor’s credibility and trust with Asian Australians. Labor party members have been working hard to rebuild that trust and credibility in the communities we need to persuade to win at the next election.

As Asian Australian members of NSW Labor, many of us have been subjected to and have fought against racism. This is a deeply concerning and personal issue for all of us. It is clear for Labor to win at the ballot box, we must seek to understand and represent the views of all Australians.
